1 Viginti quinque annorum erat Joatham cum regnare cœpisset, et sedecim annis regnavit in Jerusalem: nomen matris ejus Jerusa filia Sadoc. Joathan was of fyue and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnede sixtene yeer in Jerusalem; the name of his modir was Jerusa, the douyter of Sadoch. Joatham was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: the name of his mother was Jerusa the daughter of Sadoc. 2 Fecitque quod rectum erat coram Domino, juxta omnia quæ fecerat Ozias pater suus, excepto quod non est ingressus templum Domini: et adhuc populus delinquebat. He dide that, that was riytful bifor the Lord, bi alle thingis whiche Ozie, his fadir, hadde do; outakun that he entride not in to the temple of the Lord, and the puple trespasside yit. And he did that which was right before the Lord, according to all that Ozias his father had done, only that he entered not into the temple of the Lord, and the people still transgressed.  
3 Ipse ædificavit portam domus Domini excelsam, et in muro Ophel multa construxit. He bildide the hiy yate of the hous of the Lord, and he bildide manye thingis in the wal of Ophel; He built the high gate of the house of the Lord, and on the wall of Ophel he built much.  
4 Urbes quoque ædificavit in montibus Juda, et in saltibus castella et turres. also he bildide citees in the hillis of Juda, and he bildide castels and touris in forestis. Moreover he built cities in the mountains of Juda, and castles and towers in the forests.  
5 Ipse pugnavit contra regem filiorum Ammon, et vicit eos, dederuntque ei filii Ammon in tempore illo centum talenta argenti, et decem millia coros tritici, ac totidem coros hordei: hæc ei præbuerunt filii Ammon in anno secundo et tertio. He fauyt ayens the kyng of the sones of Amon, and ouercam hym; and the sones of Amon yauen to hym in that tyme an hundrid talentis of siluer, and ten thousynde choris of barli, and so many of wheete; the sones of Amon yauen these thingis to hym in the secounde and in the thridde yeer. Ho fought against the king of the children of Ammon, and overcame them, and the children of Ammon gave him at that time a hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and as many measures of barley: so much did the children of Ammon give him in the second and third year.  
6 Corroboratusque est Joatham, eo quod direxisset vias suas coram Domino Deo suo. And Joathan was maad strong, for he hadde dressid hise weies bifor his Lord God. And Joatham was strengthened, be- cause he had his way directed before the Lord his God.  
7 Reliqua autem sermonum Joatham, et omnes pugnæ ejus et opera, scripta sunt in libro regum Israël et Juda. Forsothe the residue of wordis of Joathan, and alle hise batels, and werkis, ben writun in the book of kyngis of Israel and of Juda. Now the rest of the acts of Joatham, and all his wars, and his works, are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Juda.

9 Dormivitque Joatham cum patribus suis, et sepelierunt eum in civitate David: et regnavit Achaz filius ejus pro eo. And Joathan slepte with hise fadris, and thei birieden hym in the citee of Dauid; and Achaz, his sone, regnede for him. And Joatham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Achaz his son reigned in his stead.
